Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease in which the immune system is triggered and groups of cells form lumps, called granulomas. Granulomas are mostly found in the lungs, lymph nodes, eyes, heart and skin. It can be triggered by chemicals, dust or infectious diseases such as bacteria and viruses. Symptoms vary depending on which organs are affected. General symptoms are swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, weight loss, joint pain or swelling. Lifestyle changes, such as nutrition, are crucial to reduce the inflammation.
