Saliva Examination
Saliva testing describes the analysis of saliva in the laboratory, whereby clinically relevant parameters and values are determined.
The examination of saliva is particularly relevant for hormonal and dental issues. Hormones are released into the saliva via the salivary glands and the concentrations of these are detected. From the point of view of dentistry, oral bacteria or toxic dental materials are of interest. For example, the release of mercury from old amalgam fillings or acrylates from fillings, splints or dentures can be tested.
